Barbara Kingsolver’s new novel, Flight Behavior, explores the impact of global warming through the eyes of an Appalachian farmer’s wife who stumbles upon a misplaced butterfly jamboree on her way to meet her would-be-lover. Kingsolver’s appreciation of her native Appalachia and her background in biologyare evident in frequent “who will speak for the trees” musings.
