Barbara Kingsolver’s new novel, Flight Behavior, explores the impact of global warming through the eyes of an Appalachian farmer’s wife who stumbles upon a misplaced butterfly jamboree on her way to meet her would-be-lover. Kingsolver’s appreciation of her native Appalachia and her background in biologyare evident in frequent “who will speak for the trees” musings. She loves her characters just as much, giving Dellarobia Turnbow an enviable warmth, wit and wisdom. Fans looking for other novels that blend setting and soul, might enjoy:
