Web Crush of the Week: The Neglected Books Page
Posted by: Rebecca Vnuk
Librarians and readers are often very focused on the “now”: what’s on the bestseller lists, what are people talking about, who’s the hot debut author to watch. However, The Neglected Books Page focuses on books that have been “stranded by changing tides in critical or popular taste.” This website lists of thousands of books that writers and readers have considered neglected at one time or another.
The site has helped bring at least one book back into print (Jetta Carleton’s The Moonflower Vine, reissued in 2009 by Harper Perennial). Hours of fun can be had scrolling through looking at cool vintage book covers, and reading excerpts from neglected books.
