If you like Douglas Adams…

Today is Douglas Adams’ birthday (thanks for the reminder, Google Doodle.) Though Adams’ side-splitting sci-fi is in a league by itself, there are a handful of authors who share his interest in interstellar absurdity. Fans of the Hitchhiker’s Guide series might also enjoy the following. (Oh, and if you or an interested patron have never listened to the radio plays? They’re hazardous-while-driving hilarious!)
- Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
- The Road to Mars by Eric Idle
- The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
- Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
- Falling Sideways by Tom Holt
- Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch
- The Amphora Project by William Kotzwinkle
- The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear by Walter Moers
- The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove by Christopher Moore
- Red Dwarf: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers by Grant Naylor
- The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett
- The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse by Robert Rankin
- Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
